North American Triple Crown Rules

Welcome to the official release of the updated North American Triple Crown rules.  The goal of this series is to reward the sailors who commit to and contribute to the events that make the North American calendar so dynamic and powerful.  This structure is developed and supported by the US and Canadian Class leadership in support of their members and supported by all of the Class partners who drive our success every day.

For the 2026 season, the Triple Crown will continue to include Tier 2 through Tier 4 events, with the following minimum requirements to qualify for ranking within the Triple Crown standings.

Qualification System (Minimum attendance to qualify for award consideration)

  • Sailors must be a current National Class Association member in their country of residence
  • Sailors must attend a minimum of one (1) Tier 2 Regatta
  • Sailors must attend a minimum of two (2) Tier 3 Regattas
  • Sailors must attend a minimum of two (2) Tier 4 Regattas
    • Tier 4 events require at least 5 qualified competitors registered to qualify
  • All events must be hosted in North America Points System
  • The RaceHub Ranking Points will determine the Triple Crown Champions
  • Total points are calculated from:
    • Your Tier 2 score
    • Your top two Tier 3 scores
    • Your top two Tier 4 scores from events with at least 5 qualified competitors
    • The tiebreaker will be who beat who at the Tier 2 event.

Awards

  • Ist, 2nd and 3rd Place Medals
  • Top Female
  • American Annual Triple Crown (Champion) 
  • Canadian Annual Triple Crown (Champion)
  • North American U19, U21, CORE, Master & Super Master (Champion)
  • Above & Beyond Awards (Mentor Of The Year, Coach of The Year, Class Citizen Of The Year)

Notes:

Only data in RaceHub as of 12/31 will be considered in the awards.   Any appeals to RaceHub scoring must be submitted to Class officials by January 10th. Absolutely no appeals will be considered after this time. Data entry into RaceHub is the responsibility of the Event Organizer and if no data is entered then results will not be considered. Unscored Awards will be decided by the US & Canadian Class officers by ranked voting during a special January meeting.  Perpetual Award location and storage will be at the discretion of the respective Class Organization. Perpetual Award Funding will be through US and Canadian Class Organizations.  The awards do not need to match.  All other awards will be funded by WASZP Global. All scoring to be completed by the Secretary of the US Class and shared publicly upon request by January 15th
