A First Look at the Proposed 2027 WASZP Calendar
The proposed 2027 North American WASZP calendar is beginning to take shape, with a full season designed to connect winter training, regional competition, national championships, international racing and scholastic development.
While many dates and venues remain subject to confirmation, the draft calendar provides an early look at what could be one of the most complete and connected WASZP seasons yet.
The goal is not simply to add more regattas. The proposed schedule is intended to create a clearer pathway through the year, supported by training opportunities, coordinated boat transportation, charter availability and stronger connections between local HUB programs and major WASZP Class events.
The Season Begins in Jensen Beach
The 2027 season is expected to open with another extended Winter Base at the US Sailing Center at Jensen Beach, continuing an important partnership that has made the venue a central part of the North American WASZP training calendar.
The proposed Winter Base program will include membership and on-site boat storage for the entire winter season, allowing sailors to leave their boats at the venue while flying in and out for scheduled training blocks and competition.
This arrangement makes it significantly easier for sailors from across North America to participate. Rather than transporting a boat back and forth for each event, sailors can store their equipment in Jensen Beach and return throughout January, February and March for coaching, training and racing.
With support from America One Racing, WeCANFoil and USFoil, Jensen Beach will once again provide a warm-weather home for the opening months of the year, combining reliable venue access with organized coaching and competition.
Midwinters and the First US Masters Championship
A dedicated Midwinters training day is proposed for January 15, followed by racing from January 16 through January 18.
The weekend is expected to bring several important parts of the Class together in one location and will include:
WASZP Midwinters
US WASZP Masters Championship
High School and College Region 2 Qualifier
The US WASZP Class is planning to organize the first US WASZP Masters Championship as part of the January weekend.
The championship is being created in preparation for the first International WASZP Masters Championship, which will be held in connection with the 2027 WASZP Games in Lake Garda, Italy.
The January event will give North American Masters sailors an opportunity to train together, race in championship conditions and begin preparing for the new international title. It will also help build a stronger and more connected Masters fleet in the United States ahead of Lake Garda.
Additional training periods may also be added during January and February based on sailor demand and venue availability.
US Nationals Moves to March
One of the most significant proposed changes is the placement of the 2027 US Nationals at the US Sailing Center at Jensen Beach from March 19 through March 21.
A two-day training camp is planned for March 17 and 18 immediately before the championship.
This format will allow sailors to arrive early, work with coaches, become familiar with the venue and prepare for three days of national-level racing.
Holding the US Nationals in March establishes an important early-season objective while taking advantage of the Winter Base infrastructure already in place. Sailors participating in the winter membership and storage program will be able to leave their boats in Jensen Beach throughout the season and return for the training camp and championship.
Charleston, Annapolis and Toms River
Following the Florida season, the calendar will move north along the East Coast.
In mid-April, the WASZP fleet is considering a return to Charleston Race Week, combined with the Fort to Battery Speed Trial.
The two events offer very different forms of competition, with traditional fleet racing followed by one of the most exciting point-to-point speed challenges in American sailing.
The proposed early-May schedule includes a return to the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta in Annapolis.
An additional America One Racing, WeCANFoil and USFoil training block is also being considered in Annapolis during May, providing another opportunity for structured coaching between major competitions.
The Atlantic Coast Championship is proposed for early June at Toms River Yacht Club in New Jersey.
Toms River has become an important WASZP venue, providing strong race management, an active youth sailing environment and convenient access for sailors throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Coordinated Shipping to the WASZP Games
The Atlantic Coast Championship will also play an important logistical role in the international season.
The US and Canadian WASZP Classes plans to coordinate group shipping to and from Italy, with boats collected in New Jersey immediately following the Atlantic Coast Championship.
The boats will then be transported to Italy for Foiling Week, the Pre-Games and the 2027 WASZP Games in Lake Garda.
Following the Games, the boats will be shipped back to the United States and delivered directly to the proposed WASZP Americas Championship venue in the Northeast. The shipping schedule will be organized so the boats arrive in time for the planned Race Team summer camp, training and competition.
This coordinated approach is intended to simplify international transportation, reduce costs and make the Italian events more accessible to North American sailors.
It will also allow sailors to follow a logical progression from the Atlantic Coast Championship to Lake Garda and then directly into the major North American summer events without independently managing each stage of the transportation process.
A Major International Summer in Lake Garda
The centerpiece of the proposed 2027 international calendar is an extended block of racing in Lake Garda, Italy.
The schedule is expected to begin in late June with Foiling Week, followed by the Pre-Games and an International Race Team Championship.
The WASZP Games will then be divided into two championship periods in early July:
6.9 and Masters Games
7.5 and 8.2 Games
The 2027 event will include the first International WASZP Masters Championship, creating a new world-level title for the growing Masters community.
The planned US Masters Championship in Jensen Beach is being developed specifically to help North American sailors prepare for this new international competition. Together, the January championship and the summer event in Lake Garda will create a clear season-long objective for Masters sailors.
The proposed Games format will allow each division to receive greater attention while creating an extended international gathering for the worldwide WASZP community.
For North American sailors, the timing provides a clear progression from the US Nationals and East Coast events into the most important international competition of the year.
Race Team Summer Camp and the Americas Championship
Following the international season, the WASZP North American Race Teams are expected to hold a two-week summer camp beginning in late July at the proposed Americas Championship venue in the Northeast United States.
Boats returning from Italy through the coordinated US WASZP Class shipping program will be delivered directly to the venue in time for the camp, training and competition.
The camp will lead into a major early-August racing block featuring the:
WASZP Americas Championship
US High School National Championship
US College National Championship
Bringing these events together will create an important destination for youth, scholastic and adult sailors while connecting developing athletes with the wider North American fleet.
A Full Regional Qualifier Series for Scholastic Sailors
The 2027 US High School and College National Championships are proposed to take place as part of the Americas Championship event block in early August.
The National Championships will be the conclusion of a full series of regional High School and College qualifiers held around the country during the months leading up to the event.

Each regional event will give school-based athletes a meaningful championship of their own while also introducing them to the broader WASZP Class racing structure.

Represent your school at a regional qualifier
Advance to the High School or College National Championship
Compete alongside the Americas Championship fleet
Holding the scholastic championships at the Americas will give qualified sailors access to a larger event environment, high-level coaching and the opportunity to train and compete alongside many of the leading WASZP sailors in North America.
Details for each region, including host venues, qualification procedures and the number of available championship places, will be announced as the calendar is finalized.
Dedicated Race Team Transportation
The WASZP North American Race Teams will have a dedicated trailer to move boats between major competitions during the 2027 season.
The trailer will help Race Team sailors connect events across the calendar while reducing the need for families to repeatedly tow boats over long distances.
Depending on the final schedule and transportation plan, sailors may be able to leave their boats with the Race Team program between selected training camps and competitions. This will make it easier for athletes to fly into a venue, train and race without personally managing every stage of boat transportation.
The dedicated trailer is an important part of creating a connected Race Team program rather than treating each championship or training camp as a separate trip.
Charter Boats at Class Events
Charter boats are expected to be available at every major WASZP Class event on the proposed calendar.
This will provide greater access for new sailors, visiting competitors and athletes traveling long distances.
It will also give sailors an opportunity to attend events when transporting their own boat is not practical. In some cases, athletes may be able to fly directly to an event, use a charter boat and participate in the associated coaching program.
The combination of the Race Team trailer and expanded charter availability is intended to make the national calendar more manageable for sailors and families.
Connecting the HUB Network to Class Competition
The continued growth of the USFoil and WeCANFoil HUB networks will create another important pathway into the 2027 calendar.
In the United States, USFoil supports local HUBs, while WeCANFoil supports HUB development in Canada. The two programs operate as equal national partners, sharing the same basic objective of placing boats, coaching and organized foiling opportunities within established local sailing communities.
HUB athletes in both countries will be able to work through their local coaches to access charter boats and coaching at discounted rates at selected WASZP Class events.
This will allow sailors developing within local programs to attend larger training blocks and competitions with support from coaches who already understand their experience, goals and progression.
As more HUBs open across the United States and Canada, the connection between local training and Class competition will become increasingly important.
A sailor can begin within a nearby HUB, learn the fundamentals of foiling in a supported environment and gradually progress toward local racing, regional qualifiers and major national or international Class events.
The HUB model removes many of the barriers that can make entering the sport difficult. Sailors do not necessarily need to purchase a boat, find a private coach or independently organize every part of their training before they can begin. Boats, coaching and a local sailing community are already in place.
The Class charter fleet, event coaching programs and national HUB networks are being developed to work together, giving sailors a clearer pathway from their first foiling experience to regional, national and international competition.

HUBs are designed to help sailors get started, whether they are experienced dinghy racers, junior sailors looking for their next challenge or adults who simply want to experience foiling for the first time.
A local HUB can provide access to equipment, coached time on the water and a progression plan based on each sailor’s experience and goals.
For some sailors, the objective may be recreational foiling and local racing. Others may want to progress toward a High School or College qualifier, join a Race Team program or compete at major Class events.
The first step is access to a boat, an experienced coach and a supportive local community. The USFoil and WeCANFoil HUB networks are being built to provide exactly that.
Canadian Championships at Kingston
The Canadian portion of the summer calendar is proposed for mid-August at Kingston in Ontario.

Canadian University Championships
Canadian WASZP Championship
Kingston provides an established championship venue and an opportunity to bring together sailors from Canada and the United States.
Placing the Canadian events shortly after the Americas Championship also creates the possibility of an extended Northeast and Ontario summer racing tour.
Sailors may be able to move directly from the Race Team camp and Americas Championship into the Canadian events, creating several consecutive weeks of training and high-level competition.
North Americans Head West
The proposed fall calendar will shift to California for the WASZP North American Championship.
The North Americans will be paired with the Pacific Coast Championship, creating two important events for the growing West Coast fleet while encouraging sailors from across the continent to make the trip.
The exact dates and host clubs remain under discussion, but the California block is intended to serve as the major continental championship period for the second half of the season.
Charter availability and coordinated transportation will be particularly important for the California events, helping sailors from the East Coast, Canada and other regions participate without individually transporting boats across the country.
Gulf Coast and Orange Bowl Finish the Year
The proposed calendar returns to Florida in November for the Gulf Coast Championship in Pensacola.
Pensacola has already demonstrated its ability to host major foiling events and will provide another strong warm-weather destination as the northern racing season comes to an end.
The year will conclude in December with a youth-focused WASZP event at the Orange Bowl in Miami.
The Orange Bowl has long been one of the most recognizable youth sailing events in North America. Adding a WASZP division will provide young sailors with another opportunity to race during the winter holiday period and showcase foiling alongside established junior classes.
Building a More Connected Season
The proposed 2027 calendar is about more than adding events. It is designed to create a clearer and more accessible progression through the year.
The Jensen Beach Winter Base will allow sailors to store boats and fly in for training and competition. The first US Masters Championship will begin preparations for the first International Masters Championship in Lake Garda. The spring East Coast series will lead into coordinated shipping from New Jersey to Italy.
Following the WASZP Games, boats will return directly to the Americas venue for Race Team training and competition. The summer will then connect the Americas Championship, the US High School and College National Championships and the Canadian Championships before the calendar shifts west for the North Americans.
The dedicated Race Team trailer, Class charter fleet and growing USFoil and WeCANFoil HUB networks will provide additional ways for sailors to access the calendar without independently managing every boat, coach and transportation requirement.
There is still considerable work to be completed before the calendar is finalized. Dates, host clubs, transportation plans and individual event formats may change as organizers coordinate with venues and the international WASZP Class calendar.
Even at this early stage, however, the proposal demonstrates the continued growth of WASZP racing in North America and a commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for youth sailors, college sailors, adult competitors, Masters and international-level athletes.
