Get Ready for a FAST January in Jensen Beach!

Bring your WASZP south, set up your Winter Base, and kick off 2027 with four days of training and championship racing in Florida.

While much of North America is settling in for another cold winter, the WASZP fleet is getting ready to go fast in Florida!

The US Sailing Center in Jensen Beach will once again be home to the North American WASZP Winter Base, and January is shaping up to be an exciting start to the 2027 season.

With the Midwinter Championship, the first North American Masters Championship, the High School & College Region 2 Qualifier, and an optional USFoil training day all packed into January 15th–18th, there's something for everyone.

The plan is simple: Sign up for the Winter Base, get your boat to Jensen Beach, and get ready for a FAST January!

Four Days of Sailing, Three Championships, One Great Weekend

The first major weekend of the year runs January 15th–18th, bringing together sailors of all ages and experience levels.

It all starts on Friday, January 15th, with an optional USFoil Training Day ($75) to get everyone back on the water and ready for racing.

Then, January 16th–18th, the WASZP Midwinter Championship ($300) takes center stage with three days of fleet racing.

This year's Midwinters will also feature the first North American Masters Championship, giving Masters and Super Masters sailors their own championship recognition as they begin preparing for the inaugural international Masters championship at Lake Garda, Italy, later in 2027.

And for our younger sailors, the High School & College Region 2 Qualifier will run January 16th–17th, creating another opportunity for the growing scholastic and collegiate fleet to compete.

There's something for everyone, and that's exactly what makes this weekend exciting. Experienced racers, Masters sailors, High School and College competitors, and sailors simply looking to get more time on the water will all be part of the same WASZP community.

January Event Registration

January 15th: USFoil Training Day ($75)

January 16th–18th: WASZP Midwinter Championship ($300)

January 16th–18th: North American Masters Championship (included with Midwinters)

January 16th–17th: High School & College Region 2 Qualifier ($200)

High School and College sailors registered and paid for Midwinters may also enter the Region 2 Qualifier at no additional cost. Simply select "Register Now & Pay Later" when completing the separate qualifier registration.

Make Jensen Beach Your Winter Home

If you're planning to sail more than one weekend this winter, the Jensen Beach Winter Base membership is an option worth considering.

For $395, sailors can leave their WASZP at the US Sailing Center from January 1st through March 21st, the conclusion of the U.S. National Championship.

Bring your boat south once, leave it in Jensen Beach, and come and go as your schedule allows. You can return for the February training weekend, the March U.S. Nationals, or simply head down to Florida to enjoy some additional time on the water.

No need to haul the boat back and forth for every event.

Important: The Winter Base membership is completely optional. If you're only coming for a regatta or clinic, you do not need to pay the Winter Base fee. Just register for your event and show up ready to sail. Event entry fees are separate from the membership.

Don't Have a Boat in Florida? Charter One!

Charter WASZPs will be available for the January events and throughout the winter season.

Whether you're traveling from Canada, the West Coast, or elsewhere in North America, chartering is a great way to join the racing without transporting your own boat.

Contact USFoil or WeCANFoil for charter availability and pricing. Boats are limited, so early arrangements are encouraged.

The Winter Is Just Getting Started

January is only the beginning. The North American Race Team Tryouts and USFoil clinics follow on February 20th–21st, with the U.S. National Championship wrapping up the winter program March 19th–21st.
