WASZP CLASS RELEASES
2026 CALENDAR OF EVENTS
The WASZP Class of North America is proud to announce its complete 2026 calendar of events, highlighting the most ambitious season yet for the Class. Structured through the global WASZP Tier System, the schedule provides sailors with a clear pathway from grassroots development to the international stage, while also making travel and logistics more efficient for competitors across the continent.
Tier 1 – WASZP Games Pensacola 2026
The highlight of the season will be the WASZP Games, hosted for the first time in North America at Pensacola Yacht Club, FL (March 24–28, 2026). Pre-Games racing (March 18–20) and the Opening Ceremony (March 23rd) will precede what is expected to be the largest foiling regatta ever held on the continent, with sailors traveling from across the globe.
To support participation, the Class will support boat shipping services from the Jensen Beach Winter Base to Pensacola, ensuring easy access for all sailors training in Florida this winter.
Tier 2 – Americas Championship
Americas Championship – New England, Early August, 2026
As the only Tier 2 event on the calendar, the Americas Championship will bring together top fleets from the U.S., Canada, and beyond, serving as a continental showcase for the Class.
Tier 3 – National Championships
Three national-level regattas will anchor the 2026 season:
Canadians – Halifax, NS – June 26-28, 2026
North Americans – Halifax, NS – July 2–5, 2026
US Nationals – Kaneohe, HI – November 27–29, 2026
The back-to-back Halifax events offer a unique double opportunity for Canadian and U.S. sailors, making travel and shipping especially efficient. Later in the season, the US Nationals in Hawaii will deliver a spectacular week of sailing, capped with Class-supported boat shipping to Sydney for the 2027 WASZP Games.
Tier 4 – Regional Regattas and Qualifiers
The strength of the Class continues at the regional level, with a busy calendar of qualifiers and regattas designed to prepare sailors for higher tiers:
Midwinters – Jensen Beach, FL – January 17–19, 2026
Regional Qualifiers (for High School & College Nationals):
Region 1 – California – January 10–11
Region 2 – Jensen Beach, FL – January 31–February 1
Region 3 – Chicago, IL – April 18–19
Region 4 – Annapolis, MD – April 25–26
ACC Championship – Toms River, NJ – June 5–7, 2026
Fall Brawl – Annapolis, MD – November 14–15, 2026
Orange Bowl – Miami, FL – December 26–30, 2026
Following the Games, the calendar has been designed with geographic efficiency in mind. Boats can move together from Pensacola → Annapolis → Toms River → Halifax, reducing costs and maximizing participation for sailors traveling across multiple events.
Youth and Collegiate Pathway
A major highlight of the season will be the inaugural High School & College National Championships, hosted by Toms River Yacht Club, NJ – May 30–31, 2026. Sailors will qualify through their regional events, with the top twelve in each division advancing to the national stage. This pathway solidifies the WASZP as the entry point for youth sailors into high-performance foiling.
Jensen Beach: Winter Development Base
The US Sailing Center of Jensen Beach, FL will serve as the official WASZP Winter Base, with training clinics, Midwinters, and regattas throughout January and February. The venue will host elite-level coaching with WeCANFoil and Vakaros partnerships, as well as Learn-to-Foil opportunities to bring new sailors into the Class. This winter training period will be the foundation for success at the Games and beyond.
Partnerships and Support
The Class is proud to recognize the vital support of WeCANFoil and Vakaros in delivering a world-class 2026 season.
WeCANFoil will have charter boats available at most events, providing opportunities for sailors to fly in and compete without transporting their own equipment.
Vakaros will make its cutting-edge units available for charter at regattas, supporting digital racing and high-quality training.
Both organizations are trusted partners of the Class, ensuring that sailors at every level can access the boats, technology, and coaching they need to succeed.
Age-Specific Calendars
In addition to the tiered structure, the Class will also publish dedicated age-specific calendars in 2026 for:
U14 Sailors - with entry-level racing and clinics tailored to younger foilers
U21 North American Race Team - with training camps and international preparation
Masters Sailors - with regattas and programs designed for adult competitors
A Milestone Year for the Class
“By defining our events through the tier system, providing charter opportunities, and adding new logistical support like shared boat shipping and geographically smart scheduling, we are making it easier than ever for sailors to participate,” said Tyler Bjorn, North American Class Manager. “From Jensen Beach development to the Games in Pensacola, through to Nationals in Hawaii and shipping to Sydney 2027, the WASZP Class is creating the clearest pathway yet for foiling sailors at every level.”
